Respect for Self, Elders & Others
Artist’s Statement
This design was tricky. To convey respect, I placed both figures with the red-on-black effect facing the one without (the figure facing right). The two with red on black represent self and elder—me being tribal and my elders tribal—so I used the old-style red on black for those two.
The plain figure on the left represents someone outside of us. While they don’t match us, we are all part of the same picture. We respect their way, even if it isn’t our way.
