About the Event
September 8 is 988 Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which provides free and confidential support 24/7 by call, text, and chat.
In recognition of 988 Day, we invite community members to gather for an evening of connection, hope, and healing. Activities will include writing cards of hope, participating in a healing dip, and gathering around the fire with light refreshments and snacks.
Dipping in water is a cultural practice that promotes healing through connection of the mind, body, and spirit. As we come together to celebrate and strengthen our light, we are reminded that we are not alone.
*Due to weather conditions, the Healing Dip is rescheduled for September 15 from 6 – 7 PM*
Who Should Attend
- Anyone affected by suicide
- Individuals who may be struggling to keep their light
- Community members who feel empowered to uplift and support others
What to Bring
- An open heart
- Towel
- Modest swimwear or a T-shirt and shorts
- Water shoes or sandals
- Dry clothes for after the dip
