Tlingit & Haida extends our heartfelt condolences to the family, clan, and community of former Angoon Delegate Pauline Jim.

Throughout her life, Pauline demonstrated a strong commitment to public service, Tribal representation, and the well-being of her community. She served as an Angoon Tlingit & Haida delegate from 1998-1999, 2002-2003, 2008-2009, 2010-2011.
In addition to serving as a Tribal Assembly Delegate representing Angoon, she served as Mayor of Angoon, participated in local education governance, and served on the Kootznoowoo, Inc. Board of Directors.
Pauline was also a dedicated advocate for the protection of Admiralty Island, the lands and resources surrounding Angoon, and the subsistence practices central to the community’s way of life. She contributed to efforts to preserve and share Angoon’s history, including the development of the community’s museum, and generously shared her cultural knowledge and experiences with younger generations.
We honor Pauline’s years of leadership, advocacy, and service, as well as her lasting contributions to her people and community.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, clan, loved ones, and the Angoon community during this difficult time.
Pauline was Tlingit, Yeíl (Raven), Deisheetaan (Beaver) clan. She was born in Klawock and raised in Angoon. She maintained deep connections to her community, culture, and traditional way of life.
Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa Pauline, for your service, leadership, and dedication to your people.
