The USDA is moving forward with rescinding the Roadless Rule, which protects over 58 million acres of national forest lands—including 9.2 million acres in Southeast Alaska—from road construction and timber harvesting.
Public comment is open until September 19, 2025, on the Environmental Impacts of rescinding the 2001 rule.
