Tlingit & Haida Celebrates Grand Opening of Community Health Vending Machine in Juneau

Published July 15, 2026

Tlingit & Haida is expanding access to free health and wellness resources with the installation of a new Community Health Vending Machine at its Community & Behavioral Services Healing Center in downtown Juneau.

Located in the lobby of 410 Willoughby Avenue, the vending machine provides free, confidential access to essential health supplies, making it easier for community members to access resources that support personal health, safety, and well-being.

Available items include:

  • Hygiene kits
  • Narcan® kits
  • Medication disposal bags
  • Medication lock boxes and medication lock bags
  • HIV self-testing kits
  • Safe sex kits

The vending machine is available to everyone in the community and is designed to reduce barriers to accessing basic health resources while promoting prevention, education, and overall wellness.

In addition to health supplies, the vending machine offers educational information on overdose prevention, harm reduction, medication safety, and community wellness. Future offerings will include culturally inspired beading kits that promote self-care, healing, and connection through traditional arts.

The initiative was made possible through a partnership with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), which supports innovative approaches to improving community health and increasing access to lifesaving resources.

Studies have found that community health vending machines improve access to preventive care and harm reduction supplies while helping reduce overdose deaths and the spread of infectious diseases. By making these resources available in a safe and accessible location, Tlingit & Haida hopes to empower individuals to make informed health decisions and connect with additional support services when needed.

To celebrate the launch of this new community resource, Tlingit & Haida will host a grand opening on Tuesday, July 21, at 11 a.m. in the lobby of 410 Willoughby Avenue. Community members are invited to attend, tour the vending machine, learn about the available resources, and meet the Community & Behavioral Services team.
