Tlingit & Haida’s Certified Tribal Artist program promotes Alaska Native-made arts and handicrafts through certifying tribal citizen artists. Upon certification, eligible applicants will be issued a certificate, permit card, and 100 free gift tags, stickers, or combination thereof to market tribal citizen artwork.
To apply for certification through the Certified Tribal Artist program, you must be a tribally enrolled citizen of Tlingit & Haida and age 18 or older.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be an enrolled tribal citizen of Tlingit & Haida.
- Must be age 18 or older.
Application Process
Applications will be reviewed within 30 days of receipt. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. All documents and fee payments will be returned to ineligible applicants.
To apply, the following documents must be received:
- Completed Application with Terms of Agreement
- Copy of Tribal Enrollment Card or Photo Identification
- $20 Processing Fee Payment (covers cost for starter gift tags/stickers and postage)

Only affix the Certified Tribal Artist seal to original art that has been or will be made entirely by the Artist.
The Artist understands the Certified Tribal Artist seal is copyrighted as described above and will not be reproduced in any form without written permission from Tlingit & Haida.
Artwork when listed will meet the “Authentic Indian Arts and Crafts” and “Indian Product” criteria (unless otherwise noted), and is labeled appropriately as authentic in compliance with 36CFR 51 Truth-In-Marketing laws concerning Native American / Alaska Native arts and crafts.
