Listen Well & With Respect

Artist’s Statement:

Okay, so this one genuinely represents how most of us are taught to converse. Listening plays a major role in a good conversation, and it’s considered bad etiquette to interrupt.

The figure on the left represents the story being told, while the figure on the right represents the listener. His face is turned toward the speaker, as is his ear—the figure is literally bending his ear—and his hands are together so as not to distract from the person talking.

Drawing this piece felt good because we all want to be heard. This depiction represents the ideal listener: someone whose attention is fully undivided.
