We Are Stewards of the Air, Land & Sea

Artist’s Statement:
I chose air, land, and sea as three different areas with distinct apex predators: Air (eagle), Land (human), and Ocean (killer whale). This design was a straightforward “three kings” concept. Each has their own background and environment where they thrive and dominate—both as animals and as representations of people.
The best way I can explain this is through nature and our connection to it, with us bearing qualities of the other two as tribes. The killer whale represents our dominance of the sea through giant boats, while the eagle in flight represents us as people having planes and the power of flight. The man symbolizes the rise of humanity as a whole, but also the human presence on the land.
