We Need Your Voice

We Need Your Voice

Published March 23, 2026

Each year, Tlingit & Haida asks Tribal citizens to help present theme ideas for the Annual Tribal Assembly. This year’s 91stAnnual Tribal Assembly, happening in September 2026, is no exception—we’re looking for a theme that is visionary and grounded, reflecting our shared values and priorities.

Past themes have celebrated sovereignty, our way of life, honoring Elders and children, empowering youth, resilience, and unity. We look forward to your ideas this year.

Your idea can help shape a theme that inspires, unites, and represents the strength and spirit of our Tribe.

Submit your theme idea by April 3, 2026, 4:30PM AKDT, for a chance to win $250! The Executive Council will make the final determination on the selected theme at its April 2026 meeting.

Guidance for Theme Submissions

  1. Keep it short: Aim for 6-7 words that capture the spirit of the theme.
    • Example: Prosperity Through Sovereignty
    • Too long: Celebrating Our Culture While Empowering Youth and Honoring Elders”
  2. Focus on a central idea: Pick one main value or message, such as unity, resilience, culture, or vision.
  3. Be inspirational and memorable: Think of a phrase that sticks in people’s minds and represents the Tribe’s values.
  4. Use active, positive language: Words like together, honor, thrive, strengthen, grow resonate well.
  5. Optional rhyme or rhythm: Short phrases that flow or have a rhythm are often easier to remember.
