The CSA program is a year-round scholarship program that serves tribal citizens residing within the United States. Funding for CSA scholarships is based on a Compact agreement between Tlingit & Haida and Southeast Alaska IRA tribes.
CSA eligibility is based on the Compact status of the student’s community of origin. Tribal citizens whose family originates from any one of our service areas are eligible to apply: Haines, Hydaburg, Juneau, Kasaan, Pelican, Saxman, and Tenakee.
Students whose family originates from communities outside of our Compact area (Angoon, Craig, Douglas, Hoonah, Kake, Ketchikan, Klawock, Klukwan, Metlakatla, Petersburg, Sitka, Skagway, Wrangell, or Yakutat) MUST apply for CSA funding through their local IRA tribe first. Applications from those who originate from these communities will be denied unless a denial letter for CSA funding is received with their application.
