Resolutions Process
The Tribal Assembly and the Executive Council establish the Tribe’s positions on issues that affect the Tlingit and Haida people through a resolutions process. Tribal Assembly resolutions are one of the policy mechanisms used to express the Tribe’s positions on federal, state, local and/or tribal legislation, litigation, and policy matters that affect tribal governments or communities. When the Tribal Assembly is not in session, the Executive Council possesses all of the powers of the Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska and establishes the Tribe’s positions on issues that affect the Tlingit and Haida people through the resolutions process.
Any duly seated Delegate may submit a resolution. Resolutions from a Tlingit & Haida Community Council must first be adopted by that community council. To provide adequate time for review, all resolutions must be submitted electronically by close of business on Friday, March 28, 2025.
